I’m a 25-year old business student from Finland, and I write a blog called Handmade Dreams of Mine. I love nail art, beauty stuff, gluten free food and fashion, which are also the main themes on my blog. My style is kind of girly with rock vibes and some friends have said it is pretty different, but that of course is for you to judge.
I started my blog as a personal diary at first, but after a while I discovered the world of fashion, lifestyle and beauty blogs, and figured it would be fun to try that out. And that’s where I still am. I can’t really name one person that made me start blogging, but I’ve loved Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere as well as Anna from Mungolife as long as I can remember so I’m pretty sure their amazing work on their blogs has somehow inspired me. Even if I wouldn’t ever be as amazing at blogging as they are.
How to Rock Edgy Office Style
As the new year has started, many of us have probably new jobs, new hobbies, new situations in life. So it’s only natural you might find ourselves looking for a new style to suit the new you. For me, it’s important to express myself through my style as much as I can at work as well as on my free time. In today’s post, I will show one of my work looks, as well as tell you how to tone down the rock in it if you want something that’s a bit easier to wear.
I was wearing this sheer cross blouse with faux leather pants, topped off with spiked necklace and boots. (You’ll see the boots in pictures below.) For me, this is quite the perfect look as well as my confidence goes. I’m always feeling amazing when I wear leather pieces.
The accessories here were a silver spiked necklace and a bracelet that says “love”. Both are gifts from my friend, so I can’t tell you exactly where to find them, sorry! I love bold necklaces a lot, since they can make even the simplest outfit look completely put together.
The cross blouse was a find from a thrift store, which is very usual for me. I love hunting treasures from thrift stores, because that’s a sure way to find more unique items than in chain stores. But I still shop from both, because I think that creates an interesting combo.
These boots are my absolute favorite this winter, I bought them on a trip to Tallinn, and have been wearing them almost daily. I love the stitching in them, as well as the zipper detail.
Here you can see the whole look, I’m sorry for the lighting being all weird, but I was forced to shoot these pics inside at night due schedule and cold weather. I hope it doesn’t take away from the outfit too much. Details for the outfit are as follows:
Blouse: thrifted Pants: H&M Boots: Shu Necklace: gift from friend Bracelet: gift from friend
Now, as I promised, here are some tips to make this look more subtle/more you:
●Switch the blouse to a plain one, with opaque fabric for a bit more conservative look
●Throw a blazer over the blouse for more business look
●Switch the leather pants to dark jeans or any pair you love if you don’t care for leather
●Changing up the accessories for more subtle ones will make the look more casual
●The boots can be switched to heels if you want a more feminine vibe
As you can see, it’s pretty easy to incorporate some rock elements to your style, even if you don’t want to go all out like I do. Any of the elements of the look here can be used at once or one at the time, just as you please. I hope this post has given you at least some inspiration for creating looks to office. An important note here is that
I work in a pretty laid back office, and as I’m in the field of marketing, I can be a bit creative with my style. I know that maybe not all of you couldn’t wear leather pants to work, and that’s all cool, but maybe you can take inspiration to the smaller details if you’re a rocker chick inside like I am.
Big thanks for Daily Opulence for giving me the chance to share my style with you, and if you maybe like what you see here, I hope I can see you later in my blog!
