Roxy is a 26-year-old public health graduate student and life style blogger. She currently resides in the gateway to the Midwest (St. Louis, MO) with her boyfriend and two fur babies. She is an aspiring physician (specialty undecided), but has a passion for fashion, traveling, food, and for creating memorable experiences with good people. Her blog, Royalty in Reality, is all about pursing her passions while living on a tight budget.
We asked Roxy what inspired her to become a blogger:
I was first inspired to start blogging by a friend who also blogs. Her very first post was extremely intimate, in the sense that she exposed her private thoughts to the world for judgment. Shortly thereafter, I found myself in search of a hobby and a place to chronicle my life. So really Royalty in Reality was created to give my mind a break from adulting (adulting =the cruel reality that is adulthood) and graduate school. As I brain stormed post ideas and who my target audience was, I realized my life is a lot like other 20-somethings. Majority of us have student loan debt, are hoping to marry the love of our life, want to see the world, love to eat, and dress in the latest fashions. Unfortunately, we’re not quite at a place in our careers where we’re making six-figures and can jet set whenever we get the urge. We basically have Dom Pérignon taste, on a Korbel budget.
Here's a taste of what you could find on Roxy's blog:
As far as fashion is concerned, this is one of my favorite times of the year. Over the top jewelry and sequins are not only allowed, but welcomed at holiday parties and New Years’ Eve festivities. This time of the year also means all of my friends are home for the holidays which means happy hours, dinners, and girls night out adventures. When I got the invitation to attend a happy hour from one of my closest high school friends, I went straight to my closet to grab my favorite sequined mini skirt.
I love sequined attire because it provides a certain “wow factor”. Girls that wear sequins seldom go unnoticed and, in my opinion, are the most confident women in the room. As not to make too bold an interest, I paired my black sequined mini skirt with a black peplum turtle neck. Because my outfit was all blacked out, it seemed appropriate to add a bold statement necklace. To ensure I wouldn’t be bothered by cold I paired my skirt and turtle neck with black tights and added my favorite red coat for a pop of color.
